Engineering and consulting firms design and manage infrastructure, environmental and energy projects for governments and companies around the world. Federal agencies are an important client for them but a minority of the business: Tetra Tech reports 32%, Fluor reports 17%, and Jacobs Solutions reports 8% of revenue from the U.S. government.

Their federal work spans agencies such as the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense, and some of the largest contracts run through joint ventures with other firms. We show those ventures on each company's profile but keep them out of the totals, because the filings don't let us split them between partners.
